SNOWTEX® Plant (Toyama)
Nissan Chemical has continuously supplied nano-colloids to a variety of industries for over 60 years using our unique particle control technology.
In 1951 Nissan Chemical started production of its SNOWTEX® colloidal silica's for use in the treatment of textiles. Due to the unique properties of SNOWTEX® it was quickly adopted by other industries such as investment casting, paper, steel and refractory. More recently the use of SNOWTEX® has expanded into leading edge technologies for semiconductor polishing, display hard coatings and electrical insulation. SNOWTEX® is now considered an indispensable product for a wide variety of applications.
In 1996 with ever growing demand for SNOWTEX® and other inorganic materials such as ORGANOSILICASOL and NanoUse® Nissan Chemical built a production facility in Houston, Texas. The plant was built to serve markets in the United States and Europe which leads further establishing Nissan Chemicals position as a comprehensive supplier of inorganic materials.
- SNOWTEX® is Nissan Chemicals trade name for colloidal silica which is used in a wide range of applications such as paper, investment casting, anti-corrosion paints, textiles and refractory. More recently the use of SNOWTEX® has expanded into leading edge technologies for semiconductor polishing, display hard coatings and electrical insulation.
- ORGANOSILICASOL is colloidal silica dispersed in various organic solvents. It can be mixed into resin systems improving functionality such as hardness, electrical insulation, CTE reduction, anti-scratch and abrasion resistance.
- ALUMINASOL is colloidal alumina for use in a wide range of applications such as paper, textile, steel, investment casting and refractory products. Recently this product has been used in batteries, for catalyst binder and ink jet paper coatings.
- NanoUse® is a high purity zirconia metal oxide sol manufactured by innovative Nissan Chemical technology. The zirconia sol is commonly used as a binder for titanium investment casting and catalysts.
