The agricultural chemicals business is based on the manufacturing of proprietary products generated from Nissan’s discovery research and expanding distribution network for Japan and over 60 countries throughout the world.
For international business, we have joint venture companies Canyon Group LLC in North America, Philagro in France and Kenogard in Spain as platforms for their territories. For other territories, we have partnerships with local companies for distribution of our proprietary products. For Japanese domestic market, we have sales force covering all over Japan for distribution of our proprietary products as well as third party products. In 2002, we have acquired domestic herbicide business of Monsanto Company. Since then ROUNDUP has been added to our product line in Japan.
Our discovery research generated herbicide quizalofop-ethyl, acaricide insecticide pyridaben, herbicide pyrazosulfuron-ethyl and herbicide halosulfuron-methyl, in addition to the above, recently we have fungicide amisulbrom and acaricide cyenopyrafen, which have been commercialized since 2008 and 2009 respectively. Furthermore, we have acquired fungicide thifluzamide from DOW Chemical in 2010 and started marketing globally. |
