ACTION

Active ingredient

TARGA component, Quizalofop-ethyl is a racemate with an asymmetric carbon atom at the α-position of the propionic acid moetiy. The active isomer is the R enantiomer, which is known as Quizalofop-P-ethyl.

Mode of action

Quizalofop-P-ethyl is hydrolyzed in plant to Quizalofop-P (acid form of Quizalofop-P-ethyl), which was proven to be an inhibitor of fatty acids synthesis through acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase) inhibition.

Targa is a systemic herbicide. It absorbed through the treated foliage reaches to the meristem tissue within 24 hours and stops the growth of weeds by inhibition of ACCase in meristem tissue.

Selectivity

Quizalofop-P-ethyl selectively controls only grass weeds from other plants. While Quizalofop-P (active form of Quizalofop-P-ethyl) inhibits the ACCase from grass family (gramineous) plant, it does not affect the ACCase from other than the grass family plant, so it is highly safe for non-gramineous crops.

Targa has excellent crop selectivity and can be sprayed over the top of weeds and crop.
