Overview

TARGA is a selective grass herbicide containing the compound Quizalofop-ethyl discovered and developed by Nissan Chemical Corporation based in Japan. This product can control grass weeds in broadleaf crops such as soybeans, beets, cotton and sunflowers. It has been used worldwide for a long time since the introduction into the market due to eco- and user-friendly herbicide.

History

Nissan Chemical is the creator of Quizalofop-ethyl

Grass weeds control herbicide in broadleaf crops are a field at strong demand, especially for the perennial grass weed like Johnson grass, which was increasing in the United States and South America at one time. A research for this herbicide began in 1978 and researchers focused on heterocyclicoxy phenoxy proionic acid. In 1979, we discovered Quizalofop-ethyl and decided to use it as a development compound from among many candidate compounds that were synthesized and evaluated.

Registered for the first time in the world in 1984

We had succeeded in commercializing Quizalofop-ethyl by conducting a lot of study on the synthesis, formulation, toxicity etc. We first obtained registration in France in 1984 and in the United States in 1988, after that full-scale sales began.

Quizalofop-ethyl has received high praise in each country and has been increasing its sales countries one after another, and is now sold in more than 40 countries around the world. The brand name varies depending on the country and sales company.
